Adelaide City has progressed to the FFA Cup quarter-finals after thumping SAASL Sunday Premier A side Elizabeth Vale 10-0.

The trend was set from the start as Evan Kostopoulos opened the scoring in the 2nd minute. He found himself unmarked on the back post and buried the header expertly.

Elizabeth Vale absorbed some early pressure but could not stop Anthony Costa from doubling City’s lead in the 18th minute. Costa fired a low driven shot past the helpless Elizabeth Vale keeper after Nicholas Bucco created the opportunity on the edge of the box.

The goals just kept on coming as Tomas Maricic rose highest from a corner to head the ball into the net in the 24th minute.

Just two minutes later the Elizabeth Vale keeper gave the ball straight to Nicholas Bucco who made no mistake and lifted it over the keepers head from 25 yards out to make it 4-0.

Elizabeth Vale tried to surge forward but their attacks were halted as Stefan Casalbore made it 5-0 in the 33rd minute. It was the pick of the bunch from the day as he cut inside from the left and bent it expertly into the far right-hand corner.

City finished the first half with yellow cards for Evan Kostopoulos and Tomas Maricic.

The second half began with Haris Vuckic replacing the yellow carded Maricic. Although, it wasn’t long before City refound their scoring mojo. In the 49th minute, Evan Kostopoulos bagged his second of the night and City’s sixth.

Stefan Casalbore was a standout on the day – bombing down the wing endlessly throughout the match. In the 57th minute, he was rewarded for his play and scored a tap in to make it 7-0.

In the 61st minute City manager Michael Matricciani made a double substitution. Evan Kostopoulos was replaced with Chris Pepe and Joseph Costa was replaced with Dom Matricciani.

Elizabeth Vale tried their hardest to turn the deficit around as their wingers surged forward but it was not to be. In the 75th minute, Stefan Casalbore completed his hat trick after he slotted home a ball that the keeper had completely missed.

The goals didn’t stop there for Casalbore as he made it a fabulous four in the 78th minute and 9-0 for City.

Five minutes later Elizabeth Vale was determined to make an impact in the game as they hit the post with a header that had Veitch beaten in the City net.

Bradley Corbo found himself in unfamiliar surroundings in the opposing box at the end of the match but that didn’t faze him as he slotted the 10th goal of the afternoon past the Elizabeth Vale keeper.

A thoroughly dominant performance from Adelaide City who progresses to the next round of the FFA Cup. Up next for City is an NPL away game to Adelaide Comets at Jack Smith Park on Friday, May 10.
