Adelaide City have bolstered their defence with the addition of young gun Zak Waters in the lead up to the 2019 National Premier League SA Season.
Waters is widely regarded as one of the finest young talents in the NPL; he spent the majority of his junior years at West Adelaide before moving into the Skillaroos. He also spent a portion of his young career at the Australian Institute of Sport.
Following his time at the AIS, Waters returned to South Australia and signed with Adelaide United Youth and has since spent time with Adelaide Comets before playing last season at Adelaide Olympic. Waters has also represented Australia at Under 17 level, playing three games for his country and was once the teammate of Australian rising star Daniel Arzani.
He has enjoyed a successful career so far, but the 20 year old is ambitious and eager to get started with his new side.
When asked why he chose City, the answer was simple.
“City are a great club, with a great culture” Waters replied.
“It is a lot more of a professional environment than I have ever experienced.”
Waters said there was a bigger, underlying factor in the reason City was the obvious choice – trophies.
“I knew a lot of the boys here and I have a lot of friends in the team but one of the main reasons is that I want to win silverware,”
“In football, silverware is important and I will give 100% for the club to keep the fighting momentum going and I would love to win another trophy.”
