Adelaide City overcame their rivals, West Adelaide, for a second time this season and have now secured the number one spot that West Adelaide had maintained all season.
The win see’s Paul Pezos’ side leapfrog from third to first, as Fulham United triumphed over Metro United Women in a surprising upset, replicating the 2-1 scoreline.
With Alex Chidiac on National team duty with the Matilda’s squad, their was nothing to fear as Daniela Di Bartolo exceptionally stepped up to the plate as per usual.
As well as the dynamic Georgia Campagnale who secured the winner in the 78th minute after West Adelaide equalised late into the first half.
It took just seven minutes for Di Bartolo to give her side an early lead, coming to no surprise.
The equaliser from West Adelaide put the game into suspense, as only one point separated these two teams on the ladder.
Regaining the lead for City and ultimately scoring what would be the last goal of the match, Campagnale slotted home her spot-kick, edging out what was a tight match between two top sides.
