Adelaide City FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Tony Costa to the position of Football Committee Chairman. Stepping into the role after Alf Ianniello moved aside last week, Costa brings a wealth of business experience, management expertise and football understanding to the position.
A former player, coach and administrator at the club, his passion for Adelaide City FC along with extensive experience managing global brands will see the club stand to benefit from further sound oversight as it moves forward and continues to build on recent progress. Costa welcomed the opportunity to take a leadership role at the club;
“I am looking forward to the opportunity of serving as Football Chairman of one of the most recognised Football Clubs in Australia.
Adelaide City Football Club has a long and proud history which is always a wonderful point of reference, just as important though the club has a bold and robust vision, to be the best NPL club in this country, this was Alf’s and the executive teams’ direction and I am committed to continue on this course, by doing so we will strongly position our club in readiness for expansion and progression.
Alf has been an incredible leader and mentor to many people at the club, including the entire executive team, coaches, players and our amazing volunteers. We are all tremendously grateful for the ongoing guidance and inspiration he has provided.
Our direction at Adelaide City Football Club is not going to change. I appreciate and celebrate our Club’s unique principles and values. The Club culture is unlike any other in our realm and we are going to stay true to that—it is in our DNA. We are going to continue to make the tough but smart decisions in the interest of a sustainable and successful future.
I’m looking forward to the role, meeting and working with all the stakeholders and patrons, I am buoyant that great years lie ahead of us and that together we will continue to make Adelaide City Football Club the wonderful place that it is.
While we have seen countless success over time, we are hungry to do more. Our industry demands and respects innovation.”
