Adelaide City FC will contest both the women’s and men’s PS4 National Premier League Grand Finals at Coopers Stadium next Saturday, 9 September.
This historic occasion will mark the first time Football Federation South Australia has played the NPL PS4 men’s and women’s premier competition grand finals back to back, and Adelaide City will be represented in both games.
Adelaide City men made their way to the final match of the state’s foremost football competition after being crowned Premier’s having completed the regular season competition on the top step of the ladder. With 16 wins and 2 draws from 22 matches, the Black and Whites finished with 50 points, 3 clear of Metro Stars. Come finals time, City overcame the strong Klemzig based outfit with two convincing victories to then earn a direct pass to the Grand Final.
Their rivals in the Coopers Stadium match will be Croydon Kings. After finishing fourth in the league, the team coached by Mark Brazzale, defeated West Adelaide, Adelaide Comets and Metro Stars to win the right to take on Premiers Adelaide City.
Adelaide City women, after finishing third in the League, just one point behind Premiers West Adelaide, needed to win two elimination finals to progress. First up, on Friday 25 August, Adelaide University was defeated 3-2, followed by a 2-1 win over Metro United on Friday night. The Black and White women will face West Adelaide in a revival of the City v Hellas tradition of old.
The PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues (PS4 NPL) is the national second tier competition in Australia which underpins the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League.
Coopers Stadium is a world-class multi-use facility just 5 minutes from central Adelaide. Considered by many to be the best football stadium in Australia, Coopers Stadium is home to the Hyundai A-League’s Adelaide United Football Club. The Stadium boasts an immaculate playing surface coupled with an intimate ambience and great viewing.
The matches will be preceded by the Grand Finals of the State League 1 and State League 2 divisions.
