Adelaide City FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonas Salley and Domenic Pipicella to the positions of men’s Reserve Grade Coach, and u18 Coach, respectively.
Salley and Pipicella both bring extensive football experience to the roles, their introduction set to build on the player development focus at the club. “The time of transition through the u16, 17, 18 and Reserve Grades is challenging for both players and the club. Jonas and Dom bring a player development approach which will support this movement and give our young men every opportunity to move through the ranks at Adelaide City” stated Football Chairman, Tony Costa.
Jonas Salley is an experienced professional footballer, perhaps best known in Australia for his two years with Adelaide United during the period 2007 – 2009 where he made 31 appearances. As well as playing in the A-League including for other clubs, such as Sydney FC, he spent the second half of his career in the Chinese Super League until retiring in early 2017. He joined West Torrens Birkalla as Reserve Grade Coach for the 2017 NPL season. “I am looking forward to working at Adelaide City” he said. “For me, I am about helping young players develop and make the move to the top grade. I know the work required, and I know that for the boys, if they put the work in, they can open opportunities. I want them to believe that, and I want to work to give them every opportunity I can.”
Domenic Pipicella has coached junior football for the past 12 years, most recently having guided Campbelltown u18 to Premiership runners up. “I actually spent some of my early coaching experience here at Adelaide City FC. “ said Pipicella. “I am very much looking forward to coming back. I like the way the club is operating and the direction it is taking. It fits with my approach to developing players and assisting the older juniors move forward.”
Domenic Pipicella joins us with over 12 years of experience coaching Senior, Junior and Development teams. In his most recent role at Campbelltown City, he coached their U18 team for 3 years, and was their Junior Technical Director for U12-U17. This year his team were runners up in the Premiership, Cup Final, and Championship Grand Final. Previously, Domenic coached Campbelltown’s U15 team to win the Manchester United Premiers Cup SA Finals and represented SA at the National leg of this tournament. Over the last 5 years Domenic has also coached the East SAP and STIC squads for FFSA. Domenic is keen to utilise his coaching experience to develop players and contribute to their transition from junior to senior football.
