Adelaide City FC’s new artificial pitch providing a high quality, consistent playing surface available all year round, along with facility improvements, is well into planning stages.
Announced in June this year, Adelaide City FC will receive $1 million funding as part of the state government budget initiative to provide funds of $10 million for much needed playing fields and facilities for football across Adelaide.
The pitch will be located at Adelaide City Park, Oakden and provide high quality training and playing for both senior and junior teams. Due for completion in 2017, initial survey work has been carried out with planning well underway.
Club Football Chairman Alf Ianniello hailed the government’s initiative as a much needed injection to cater for the ever growing participation rates, particularly among children and youth. “Adelaide City FC will now be in a much better position to cater for the increasing demand to play football. With over 700 players at the club, the new artificial pitch and the associated developments will provide more opportunity to train and play.”
The durable artificial pitch will provide a consistent playing surface all year round and be able to accommodate multiple teams and significant training schedules. The infrastructure will be a great asset for the club and player development.
