Adelaide City FC is deeply saddened by the passing of former President, Mr Bob D’Ottavi, on Friday 21 August 2015.
Mr D’Ottavi guided Adelaide City FC for 16 years, from 1998 to 2014; in the National Soccer League from 1998 – 2004, and then through to 2014 in the National Premier League. During that time the club took home five FFSA Championships and four FFSA Cups.
His dedication to the club and it’s success was unwavering. Always committed, Mr D’Ottavi gave much of himself personally and financially for the good of the club. Current Head Coach and former Adelaide City FC player Damian Mori, worked closely with him, experiencing his dedication and support. “Bob was a very passionate man and very generous to my family and I. He led from the front and always stayed true to his beliefs, carrying them through. He set the foundation of where Adelaide City is today, he wanted to put the club in the position to get back to the highest level. He left the club in a strong position.”
Mr D’Ottavi leaves behind a legacy of success written in history. He will always be remembered as the backbone of the club and driving force who faced challenge with resolve and self belief.
Adelaide City FC would like to extend it’s appreciation for the many kind words of support and praise received for Mr D’Ottavi. It would also like to thank Adelaide United FC for its minute silence in his honour on Saturday evening.
The board of the club, football committee, players and staff extend their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Mr D’Ottavi.
