Adelaide City FC’s Alex Chidiac has been selected to represent Australia as part of a 21 player squad for the Tournament of Nations to be held in the USA late July. Australia will kick off their campaign at the prestigious event against World #1 ranked USA on July 27.
Chidiac’s strong form for Adelaide City and Australia’s Young Matildas in the recent three way tournament in Australia’s capital against USA and Canada helped secure her spot in the high calibre group.
The talented 18 year old from Windsor Gardens in Adelaide’s north east suburbs aided the Matildas to fourth place at the 2017 Algarve Cup in Portugal earlier in the year. The tournament featured some of the world’s most highly ranked countries including Spain, Canada, Denmark and Brazil.
The event also marked Chidiac’s starting debut for her country’s senior national team, donning the green and gold jersey and helping to secure an impressive 3-2 win over a top flight Netherlands outfit.
“It was a great tournament to be a part of. It gave me great experience at an international level,” stated Chidiac. She will be hoping to build on her burgeoning credentials in the Tournament of Nations.
