Adelaide City have signed forward Fabio Ferreira for the remainder of the 2019 NPL Season.
Ferreira, an experienced winger, boosts City’s attacking stocks as they attempt to rediscover their form from previous years and find their feet in the 2019 NPL season.
It is a huge coup for City, who already boast many ex Hyundai A-League players, with Ferreira providing coach Michael Matricciani with more options on the wing.
Ferreira played 51 games for Adelaide United between 2012 and 2015, quickly becoming a fan favourite before heading east to the Central Coast Mariners.
He had a stint in Malaysia with PKNS before heading back to Australia and playing a further 19 games with Sydney FC and then with last season’s Premiers Perth Glory.
The Portuguese winger can’t wait to get his Black and White career started, insisting that his love for the city is what lured him back to South Australia.
“After I left Perth I spoke to quite a few people and Evan (Kostopoulos) was one of the people to convince me to come to City,” Ferreira said.
“I want to help the club remain in the NPL and push hard for the end of the season.”
City have signed the 30 year old Ferreira in time for their FFA Cup Preliminary Round Grand Final against Adelaide Olympic at Coopers Stadium this Saturday, as he is in line to make his City debut.
And La Flecha can’t wait to get started.
“We have a big game this weekend in the Cup final – and I would love to help the team lift another trophy.”
