City Succumb To Early Goal In Grand Final

Adelaide City were defeated 1-0 by Campbelltown City in front of 3,400 people at Coopers Stadium, in the 2016 Grand Final of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League (PS4 NPL) South Australia  on Saturday, 10 September 2016.

An inch-perfect cross by Anthony Ture found Thomas Strain who headed the ball into the net in the 16th minute. Despite having most of the possession and territory for the remainder of the match, City could not break down the Red Devil defence.

Campbelltown City Soccer Club were crowned the 2016 Champions of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League (PS4 NPL) South Australia. Campbelltown City’s Luigi Ditroia was awarded Player of the Match in the Grand Final.

Adelaide City, the 2016 South Australian Premiers, will have little time to contemplate the result as the team now travel to Sydney during the week to represent South Australia at the PS4 NPL National Finals Series.

They’re up against PS4 NPL New South Wales Grand Finalist Sydney United on Sunday, 18th September, at 2pm.

Earlier in the day, the State League 1 Grand Final saw Cumberland United defeat Para Hills Knights 3-2 courtesy of two very late goals, in the 89th minute and 93rd minute. In between these two strikes Cumberland also missed a penalty.

Two of Cumberland’s goals were scored by Lewis May whilst the winner was netted by Harley Gepp.

The scorers for Para Hills Knights were Aaron Acton, with what must be considered the goal of the entire day, and Callum Flanagan from the penalty spot.

Both Cumberland and Para Hills were previously confirmed as the two promoted teams into the PS4 National Premier League in 2017.

The first game of the day was the PS4 NPL Reserves Grade Grand Final; this was won by MetroStars, 2-0 over West Adelaide.
