Adelaide City FC will host 2015 Cup winners Croydon Kings and 2015 SA NPL League victors West Adelaide in the first two rounds of the 2016 PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues (NPL) South Australia fixtures! The draw just released by Football Federation SA (FFSA) features plenty of highlights for the Black and White supporters with the club’s season kicking off on Saturday 27 February 2016.
Following the two home match start to the season, City will play a very interesting fixture away to newly promoted Adelaide Olympic before travelling to Whyalla, (home town of Adelaide City legend and Socceroo Carl Veart), to play Adelaide Comets for the Regional Round.
A run of three home matches follow, including against big local rival Campbelltown, and the not to be missed contest with 2015 State League Champions Adelaide United! Three matches away follow, including the always competitive Blue Eagles before a return home to the red and yellow of Metro Stars, another local derby that always excites!
The second half of the season and run home before finals includes three home matches against Blue Eagles, Birkalla and South Adelaide.
“The season kicks off really strong with two great opponents at home. Croydon defeated us in the state final of the cup, and we have to take it to them. Of course West Adelaide is really our greatest traditional foe, and still a strong opponent. It’s always a great contest with passion!” enthused Football Committee Chairman Alf Ianniello. “These are two matches to really relish and see live to soak up the atmosphere,” he added.
Lots of great contests and exciting match ups will no doubt see 2016 shape up as an enthralling season.
