On the road to the FFSA NPL Final, Adelaide City will face West Torrens Birkalla this Saturday, 29 August at Birkalla’s home ground, Jack Smith Park, with kick off slated for 2:30pm.
The winner will face the loser of the two legged playoff between West Adelaide and Blue Eagles next weekend for a spot in the Grand Final.
Both teams won through in dramatic penalty shootouts last weekend, City scoring 3-1 over Croydon, and victorious Birkalla 5-4 against Campbelltown. After Lewis Farquhar tied up the scoring at one a piece in the 64th minute of normal time, there was to be no further goals in the extended match. City keeper Ryan Veitch again showed althleticism and strong gloves to deny Croydon striker Andreas Wiens twice at the tailend of extra time and again in saving his first up penalty, and the day, to secure the next round berth.
Our Reserve Grade team are set to contest the curtain raiser for 1st Grade at 12:00pm where they will take on Croydon Kings in the Qualifying Semi Final second leg – the winner of the game going through to the Grand Final in two weeks after a 0-0 scoreline in the first leg. Playing at Adelaide Shores, with a 9:30am start, our u18’s must win their 2nd leg against Pirates if they want to progress direct to the Grand Final.
