SportsMed SA will be the club’s official Medical Partner for the upcoming 2018 National Premier League season.
It is a huge boost for City, who gain the expertise of one of Adelaide’s most renowned sports medicine practises in their attempt to manage injury and prevention for players, throughout both junior and senior ranks at the club.
Senior physiotherapist, and former Adelaide City player Glenn Dods was a special guest at the club’s Senior Season Launch on Wednesday night at the Arkaba Hotel, and the 22-game New Zealand international eagerly shared the news about the new partnership with fellow attendees.
“We have decided to work with Adelaide City because we think that there is great synergy between us,” Dods said.
“This club is the most successful club in the state and has provided a large number of international players and that’s the type of synergy that we see with our organisation as we are constantly growing.”
However, Dods claimed that SportsMed SA are not just simply providing Adelaide City with their day-to-day injury treatment, stating that there is a lot more of the company’s operations that they are looking forward to sharing with the club.
“Most importantly we are here to educate the club.”
“The sort of professional services associated with recovery and the medical side which ultimately helps get the best possible performance out of the players”.
Dods also revealed that 56 trainers and team managers from the club would this weekend attend a certificated course at Sportsmed’s Payneham Road medical complex.
“We want to make sure our coaches and trainers are able to make good decisions about the players.”
Adelaide City will kick off their 2018 campaign next Saturday against South Adelaide at Adelaide City Park in what will be the fans’ first opportunity to see the new-look playing kit in action.
