Adelaide City FC have revealed ambitious plans for the upcoming 2019 season and beyond at Tuesday night’s “This is Adelaide City – Building the Future, proudly supported by CMI Toyota” event held at the impressive Adelaide Convention Centre.
This was highlighted with many major announcements showcasing the strategic plan of the Adelaide City Football Club moving forward. Chairman Tony Costa revealed Adelaide City’s vision to become the best National Premier League club in Australia.
Kiwi international, and City legend, Glenn Dods has been appointed Wellness and Athletic Performance Manager of the club, with an extensive Sports Science team assisting him in the role. He announced that he along with the incoming medical experts will add practices to achieve ultimate athletic performance for the club from the juniors to the senior setup, including the introduction of proven warm ups to help players avoid injuries.
Former City player, and A-League Championship winner with Central Coast Mariners, Adriano Pellegrino has been appointed Technical Director for the u16 to Reserve Grade divisios of Adelaide City for the 2019 season. Furthermore, Pellegrino announced the Rept FC | Adelaide City FC Academy, offering the juniors of the club the best possible pathway into professional football. He stated that the academy will tailor each player’s specific needs to achieve maximum performance from each individual.
The Academy will be implemented with assistance from Pernix, a South Australian based big data company who will give the club a better insight in their football and athletic programs through data science. Pernix is an experienced data-focused organisation that will provide end to end data solutions aimed at driving better sporting outcomes. The partnership is expected to follow suit with the high performance program that the Adelaide City Football Club wishes to implement from the 2019 season.
The club also revealed plans for 2019 to expand their involvement in tournament play. It was announced that selected junior teams from the club will participate in the Kanga Cup, and for the first ever time the Borneo Cup (Malaysia) and Bangkok Cup (Thailand). This is a huge step forward for junior development with the club.

Continuing to add to the announcements, Studio Nine, a leading South Australian architectural firm, unveiled the club’s Master Plan. The Master Plan is to create a world class facility that embodies a forward thinking football facility with national aspirations built on a foundation of their rich heritage. The new proposed developments will facilitate the club in their push for a national league berth in the future, and undoubtedly will help Adelaide City in their vision to become the best NPL club in Australia.
