Adelaide City welcomes midfielder Georgia Campagnale back into the fold for the 2019 Women’s National Premier League season.
Campagnale returns after a great season with Adelaide United in the 2018/19 edition of the W-League, where she featured in all 12 games. Unfortunately, the team fell just short of making their maiden finals appearance.
“It was quite close, there was only one point, I believe, between [us and] the top four.”
“But overall, I personally thought I did well, we made especially good strides as a team for next year, and we will continue to build on our achievements.”
The midfielder even managed to score her first W-League goal in spectacular fashion – coming on as a late substitute in the 85th minute and then striking deep within additional time to equalise against powerhouse Melbourne City back in round five in December.
“It was a pretty unreal moment. Especially since it was the 97th minute, and games rarely go until then, so it was very special to get the goal then.”
“I went a bit crazy [celebrating], but I was pretty happy that it was my first goal.”
Campagnale was a part of the Adelaide City squad who claimed back-to-back WNPL Championships last year, and she is ready to help bring the team to a whole new level this season.
“I would like to win all three [trophies] this year: come out on top [for the minor Premiership], Championship and the [Premier and State] Cup.”
“The last two years we’ve only won the Cup and Championship, so I hope this year we’ll take out all three.”
Catch Georgia Campagnale and the rest of the Adelaide City team at their first WNPL game of the season against FFSA NTC at 6:15pm on 8th March (Friday) at VALO Football Centre.
